Here we are inside the Grand Mosque of M City. We had to leave our shoes at the door and I had to cover my head. I haven't done that since we left the Sandy Country.
I don't know if you can see it, but between the palm trees is a sign for "Texas Fried Chicken" which I thought was a funny thing to see in the middle of our cultural tour. Everyone likes good fried chicken, right?
This picture is very Taj Mahal - ish
The graveyard outside the mosque.
The white lines on the carpet are the guides for where to stand when lots of people are lined up to pray. Several thousand could fit in this mosque, lined up shoulder-to-shoulder. That day there were only two. One was a young man, the other older man is reading the Quran.
Here are some cute tourists.
This is a pretty little street in M City.
I never get tired of looking at rice fields. Isn't this beautiful! I took this picture while on an afternoon walk.
Happy 2011 Everyone! The boys enjoyed a great New Years Party and a bunch of other stuff while Kris and I went on our exploration trip to the south.
They made home-made pizzas...
tie-dye shirts...
(hard at work rubber-banding their T-shirts)
They went to a museum (that freaked Joel out, can you tell?)
Here is why it freaked him out...lots of stuffed predators attacking stuffed victims...
But here is a pretty calm predator...he must be too stuffed to attack a fellow-stuffed animal.
Meanwhile Kris and I traipsed around the island. Here is a big bridge in P City.
Unless you have super-sonic eyes, you might not be able to see that this blue billboard is a digital countdown to the SEA Games this summer. P City will be hosting it.
Look what I found in P city! Seth Sports! (I realize it's kind of blurry, I had to take it on the fly)
Pretty nice looking city, huh?
Yes, you read it right, GOLF.
L City has pretty hills and a view of the ocean!
And better yet, a restaurant called GOMBONG!!!
Here is the hospital for those of you who know a little about the history of L City.
OOPS! I guess you can figure out what L City is. I took this from the airplane. So...that is our big trip in a blog. Haven't made our final decision but I think we will soon.
Love the pictures. Can I put some of them on your bulletin board at Tab?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun trip! Can't wait to hear where your new home will be. I'll have to vote for L due to the ocean view and the Gombong restaurant. Oops, just got your email and your going to P! Well, seeing as how they have golf, SEA games, Seth Sports and a great bridge - can't go wrong there!
